01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
For a substantial meal, the house-made pork vindaloo curry stands out. It is prepared with pork marinated in red wine vinegar and organic spices, and contains no wheat flour or dairy products. One diner described the pork as tender and falling apart, with the vinegar’s tang and a pronounced chilli heat; the accompanying sides were also noted for their spice. The plate comes with pachadi made with soy yoghurt and beetroot, cabbage poriyal and pumpkin masala, offering plenty of ways to alternate between curry and sides.
Other meal options include a deli plate with brown rice, relish chicken, hijiki seaweed and lotus root kinpira, and pumpkin and walnut salad. There is also a doria topped with tomato cream sauce and bacon over turmeric rice, finished with plenty of cheese and served with salad.
For something sweet, try the classic pudding with a cup of Dodo Blend, brewed through a flannel filter. The pudding has a firm texture, and one visitor found it a good match for coffee. The menu describes the deep-roasted Dodo Blend as full-bodied and bitter. For a sweeter coffee, Wiener coffee is served with whipped cream.
With both meals and café drinks on offer, the quiet interior may suit a conversation or a solo coffee break.
